ind the internship.
Just like there are sites for jobs there are sites for internships. you didn’t get that amazing internship at teen vogue or that incredible law firm its ok. its there lost. Start small find something in the same field. There’s always someone who needs help that can give you the same experience. Don’t be nervous Go into the interview with a clear mind, relax! remember the reason why you applied you. You went to school for a reason, take the knowledge you know and try to get what you need; Which is the experience. Treat it like a regular job interview answer questions best way you can you are not the only one who can’t stand that questions “Why should we hire you?” If you have answers ready for them, great! if not use your imagination, just to see the response. I would personally say “I have all this knowledge and need to put it to good use.” Something along those lines like I said, if they don’t hire you it’s their loss. Let it go! Reason with the employer during the interview. Internships are based on free labor the only thing you gain is the experience. With that being said the experience will not feed you or pay for transportation. Think about programs you may need in order for you to work for them. Programs, for example, Photoshop or WordPress. You shouldn’t have to pay for any programs, ask what resources do you provide. If it’s not too much, work out a deal for transportation. If you are lucky maybe lunch will be on them. That’s if you are lucky! Tell them what you need In order for them to receive you as this amazing intern tell them what you need. Like I said to ask about resources they may or may not have what you need. Its ok to recommend a resource that will be better for you and beneficial to them. If the employer refuses to give you what you need as a resource. It’s impossible for you to work without it. You are better off finding another internship. It is not a one-way street You give to receive in this particular situation, remember you have a passion for this particular field. You are hungry for success. In that case, you want to listen to the interviewer, listen to what they ask you. If it isn’t what you are there for, then you are wasting your time. Don’t be afraid to walk away If you say to yourself “I didn’t sign up for this” “I am not learning anything about the industry.” And you feel exploited, you have every right to leave cut it off. If the boss seems manipulative and possessive run for the hills! If you can’t tell if they are being manipulative and possessive. The hint will be, They made you reconsider the internship; when you knew you were right to leave in the first place. With all these tips in mind, Good Luck!
